Lessons are billed monthly (1st day of month), if you start your lesson on any other day your first month's bill will be on the day of your first lesson, then will continue to the 1st of the month thereafter.

Cancellation Options & Policy

We take great pride in offering students a wide range of options to maintain their teaching momentum at our music academy. Unlike the general music studio industry norm in Calgary/Area, where missed or canceled lessons are forfeited without alternatives, we provide numerous options as a bonus for being a student with us. To ensure maximum flexibility, here's how it works

Late Lesson Cancellation Options (48 hours or less notice, Private Lessons Only):

A) Request a video lesson recording, and complete it anytime the following week: In the student portal, click the button “Request LessonMate” if you’d like the teacher to record a lesson for you. Teachers require notice to prepare a digital lesson and recording. Notice required is 9am the morning of the lesson or sooner.

B) Lesson Transfer Within Household Anyone in your home can attend in place of the missing student, no notice is required for this option Just show up and enjoy!

C) Cancel Your Lesson if you can’t use any of the options above and can’t make your lesson last minute, out of courtesy to your teacher, In the student portal, click the button “Cancel”. Do note that if this button is clicked less than 48 hours prior to the lesson the lesson is forfeited and billed commences accordingly.%%SECTION_BREAK%%

Early Lesson Cancellation Options (More than 48 Hours Notice, Private Lessons Only):

A makeup lesson is provided if your lesson is cancelled at least 48 hours in advance of your lesson, please read below to fully understand how the “makeup lessons” works.

If you wish to cancel your lesson in the following month, the system will request payment so it can issue you makeup lesson. As long as you cancel earlier than 48 hours in advance a makeup lesson credit will be issued.

Makeup lesson can be utilized with any teacher at either Cochrane Music Academy or Notable Music Academy (Brentwood NW Calgary).

While we strive to accommodate your preferred teacher for makeup lessons, we cannot guarantee your specific teachers availability. 

To enhance your flexibility, we have made your makeup lesson credit accessible, allowing you to self-enrol for a makeup lesson at any of our locations (Cochrane or Brentwood Calgary) with any available qualified teachers that have openings. 

The benefit of this is a wider range of availability and students appreciate the different teaching style for variety in broadening their learning journey. We suggest that you regularly check in to your student portal to find a teaching spot as spots come up regularly 24/7 as other students cancel and fill empty spots in our teachers schedules.

Booking your makeup lesson is simple—just visit the student portal and schedule it up to 6 days in advance. As you progress through your makeup credits, you can utilize unlimited credits for as long as your subscription remains active with Cochrane Music Academy & Notable Music Academy Calgary.

Please note that makeup lessons can only be used to book lessons and can not be used against future lessons and or payments. Makeup lessons expire 60 Days OR on date in which the subscription is complete (which ever comes first) from date the makeup is issued.

Makeup lessons can be used with any available teacher at any time they have openings. Once booked, a makeup lesson can not be rescheduled and if missed the lesson is forfeited.

Makeup lessons with an active subscription membership, if your membership is cancelled with 30 days notice, your makeup lessons will also expire at the same time.

Group Lesson Cancellations:

If a group lesson unattended or cancelled, the lesson is forfeited without refund or credit or makeup. This policy remains even if the student gives advanced notice.If a student wishes to cancel ongoing group lessons then 30 days notice is required

Health and Safety Policy for Lessons:

To maintain a healthy environment for both students and instructors, we request that any student exhibiting symptoms of illness—such as coughing, sneezing, a runny nose, sore throat, or chest discomfort—cancel their in-person lesson and opt for a video lesson (LessonMate) instead. This measure helps ensure the well-being of our teachers, whose livelihoods depend on their ability to conduct lessons without interruption.

Instructors reserve the right to ask any student showing signs of illness to wait in the lobby for the duration of their scheduled lesson. In such cases, a video lesson will be provided via email.

Thank you for your cooperation and understanding in helping us keep our community healthy.

Additional Policies:

Bank Holidays: Lessons that fall on bank holidays the academy is closed, the lesson will not be charged and your account billing will auto adjust for that month. To see if any of your lessons are affected by this, go into your account portal and view the list of lessons in your calendar view.

Staff Cancellations: If a teacher cancels your lesson or is away on vacation and a substitute teacher can’t be provided, the lesson will be canceled and a makeup lesson will be added to your account to self enrol in the future.

Teachers: Lessons will be fulfilled by a qualified teacher. If your usual teacher is away we'll provide an equally qualified substitute if possible.

Pricing Increases: To keep things easy and consistent, our prices are updated every year on the 1st of September. This is based on the national CPI and increased costs required to deliver our great lesson programmes.

Student Change Requests: To change your lesson day/time, increase or decrease your lesson time or cancel your lesson subscription, 30 days notice is required. To start this process click and fill this link: Click Here
